  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lb ground turkey sausage (or chicken)
  • 1 heaping tsp minced garlic
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions, green pepper, and garlic until softened (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add ground turkey sausage; cook until browned (7–10 minutes). Stir in diced banana peppers along with salt, black pepper, basil, oregano, and thyme. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and evaporated milk; bring to a simmer. Mix in cream cheese cubes until melted.
  4. Add uncooked orzo pasta; cook according to package instructions (about 8–10 minutes) until al dente.
