  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • â…” cup pumpkin puree (blotted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for icing)
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream room temperature butter with white sugar and dark brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree; mix well.
  5. Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop dough onto a baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes until edges are firm but centers remain soft.
