  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • Juice and zest from 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Drain the tofu and press it for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, coat the tofu cubes with soy sauce or tamari. Sprinkle with cornstarch, breadcrumbs, and lemon pepper seasoning; mix until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the tofu on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. While baking, prepare the sauce by whisking together lemon juice and zest, vegetable broth, honey or maple syrup, black pepper, salt, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch in a small pot over medium heat until thickened.
  6. After baking, combine the tofu with the sauce in a bowl and serve immediately.
